Summer term is here and for the first half of the term we are kids by night and Superkids by day! Look out for what Superhero action we have been up to in the Reception class over the upcoming weeks
This half term we are looking at superheroes. we will be naming and talking about the superheroes that are already known to us and their superpowers. From discussion we will then explore and design what Superheroes we could be, thinking of a name, costume and what our powers are. We will then join the superhero Academy and start our intensive training so that we can complete missions.
We will use our superpowers of our 5 senses, reading, writing and number to help solve crimes that will crop up by those pesky villain’s that are around.
We must keep the school safe!
To help celebrate World Book Day we were very excited to have a storyteller come in school and tell us a story. The children in Nursery and Reception were absolutely captivated by Chris the storyteller. Read on and find out about the story he told us and our involvement in the story telling.
Wow the weather forecast was right! the Beast from the East and Storm Emma hit the North East well and truly. School was closed for three days!
However as soon as we were opened again it was business as usual, busy preparing for our Mummies Play and Stay on Friday 9th March, to celebrate Mother’s Day reorganising our World Book Day – we don’t want to miss out dressing up in our costumes and having our story stool judged. World Book Day postponed to Thursday 8th March and of course we need to explore in our outdoor environment with the snow! Take a look at a few photos of us working independently in the snow, we had lots of fun!
We had a lovely morning on Friday (9th March) inviting our Mummies and Grandmas into school for a play and stay session to celebrate Mothers Day. We have been reading stories this week such as Guess How much I love you and My Mum is Fantastic by Nick Butterworth. The children in Nursery and Reception painted portraits of their Mummies and told us a little bit about them so that we could play Guess Who at our play and stay session – our Mummies loved the game and the clues we had given!
