Our Learning

Kicking off this term we have been learning about the new member of our class…Our adopted Meerkat Rocky! The 4 lucky children who get the most Dojo points this term will be heading off to Chester zoo in December, to visit the Meerkats we have adopted. In the meantime we have been learning all about Meerkats and survival in Literacy and Topic.

Class Useful Information

  • PE- Wednesday and Friday afternoons
  • Children should continue to bring their reading books to school each day and aim to read to an adult every night to maintain the good progress made so far.
  • Homework will be given on Fridays to be returned by Wednesday of the following week. Occasionally extra topic homework may also be given.
  • Spellings are set by the children’s phonics teachers and given out on Wednesdays ready for a test on every Monday.
  • PE sessions are on Monday and Tuesday afternoons however kits should be left in school all week, as extra activities may be added.

Fire Fire!

This Term’s Topic is FIRE FIRE! We are learning about the Great fire of London in 1666 and fire safety today. In Literacy we are reading, The giant Jam sandwich, The gingerbread man, Toby and the Great Fire of London and writing fire safety instructions. In maths we have looked at place value, numbers to 1000, ordering and comparing, addition of 2 digit numbers, subtraction of 2 digit numbers and multiplication and division. Have a look at what we have been up to so far.
