This term will certainly kick off with a busy few weeks; plenty of hard work in preparation for our SATs! It won’t just be literacy and maths though… we have plenty of projects to work through. We will be looking back through the decades in history and getting crafty in art and D&T. We will also be celebrating the Royal wedding. Not to mention our end of year show, which we will be busy preparing. Lots of things to look forward to!
This term our History topic will be Victorians, where we will begin going to Beamish and visiting a Victorian classroom. We will be looking at rivers in our geography topic and looking closely at World Rivers and of course the River Tees.
In Literacy, we will be looking at a variety of texts including: The Storm, The Night of the Gargoyles and Skellig. Throughout all three texts, we will be working really hard on using description to create a vivid image in the readers mind. In Maths, we will be looking at shapes, time and ratio.
We have plenty of things to look forward to!

We love writing some descriptions of different storms. Watch some of the videos below to hear our wonderful work!
We had a lovely day at the Fire and Rescue carousel. We had a variety of talks from the fire brigade, police, nurses, road safety, the RNLI and Northern Power. We learnt a lot and know lots about the dangers around and how we can keep ourselves safe.
As part of our World Wars topic, we have been talking about how we remember those that fought in the wars. We made some tissue paper poppies and created word art poppies too.
We re-wrote ‘The Magic Box’ poem, telling our readers all about Ford Castle.
To kick start the Autumn Term, each class has adopted an animal from Chester Zoo. We are now the proud parents of a chimpanzee! In class, we will be looking into facts about chimpanzees but our main focus in Literacy will be the fantastic King Kong book by Anthony Browne. Watch this space for some of our amazing writing.
